LEAKED EMAIL PUTS HOLE IN MAMDANI CAMPAIGN

ree

Randi Weingarten should be melting about now like the Wicked Witch of the West.  Her screaming about her fate will be to no avail.  The email is from a former assistant of hers, named Leo Casey, who has bemoaned two things:  Mandami will suck as mayor, and it will become like the situation in Chicago where Mayor Brandon Johnson has hit new lows with an approval rating of 14%.

While you are pondering that 14% figure, you need to remember these are the same voters who voted Mayor Brandon Johnson into office in the first place.  So, yes, Mandami too will be swept into office on the wave of false promises. Voters will buy in only to find months, or years, later, not only were they lied to, but the person they voted in has clay feet.

In all fairness, it was a close election.  Brandon Johnson won, 51.4%  to 48.6% against his opponent, Paul Vallas.  The three way split in Mandami’s case will produce a different result.  What will follow will likely be the same as in Chicago.

There has been a lot of back and forth in an effort to validate the authenticity of the leaked email.  At this point, the evidence supports that it is true.  However, Corey seems to through some water on the assertion.  Nonetheless, his comments seem open to interpretation.

Meantime, the damage is being done to the Democrat party.  Will this cause more Democrats to not vote for Mamdani?  To date, there has been no real erosion of support for him.

The information is new.  Expect the impact to unfold in the coming week.  There will be denials.  There will be pushback.  There will be a new batch of lies meant to confuse voters.  Meantime, as  of Sunday night, there has been no comment for either Randi Weingarten or Zohran Mamdani.

Hopefully, by next Sunday, there will be a real discussion among voters. Two fundamental realities  will need to be weighed by Mamdani supporters;  His youth and his inexperience.  Being able to pick a focus group election issue does not translate into being a good mayor.

Mamdani gets credit for smiling a lot and staying on his housing affordability message.  Yet, somehow, his lack of a specific plan or proposal will not stop him from getting elected in the largest city in America?  Sadly, this remains a reflection of the superficial nature of voters in New York City.  On the street interviews show a voting population quick to decide and slow to think.

Plus this is suddenly happening about the same time that Mayor Eric Adams announces he is dropping out of the race.  The timing is peculiar.  Will anyone notice?  We have.  One other point to keep in mind is that the phase of the campaign that calls for negative ads is just beginning.  Mayor Adams was already well under 10% in the polling.  Was it about to get worse?  We will never know because he has decided to go.  Also, ladies and gentlemen, what happened to Mayor Adams can be seen as a foreshadowing of what will happen to Mamdani, if he wins.  Just because you decide to run for mayor doesn’t mean you should be mayor.  Normally, one lets the voters decide.  But we have too many examples where the voter’s choice turns out to be a bad one who later becomes extremely unpopular, and for good reasons.

Well, all that can be said is that email leaks like these only make the choices more complex.  Should this drag down his poll ratings, it can be argued that, for once, voters are listening.
