OP-ED: DYSFUNCTIONAL DEMOCRATS

This Op-Ed starts with a series of mysteries all centered around the legislative choices of the Hartford Democrats.  The situation is worse than you think. The stealing of local control in zoning and housing decisions for individual towns; the clinging to sanctuary state status; attempts to impose vaccine mandates; the attempts to eliminate legislative accountability; continued support of transgenderism even as it is being rolled back throughout the country; the continued institutional support of election fraud (you read that right, support); as well as the failure to address declining test scores in public education.  The list of failures by this state legislature just continues. All of this can only be explained by a 40 year plus pattern of crazy behavior and poor judgement by dysfunctional Democrats.

It is a culture that explains how Connecticut is moving counter to the nation.  Population is shrinking relative to the growth of the nation; same for the economy. The state is still notorious for its anti-business culture.  So, why should we be surprised about a “housing crisis” in an anti-business state?

All of this constitutes evidence of an inbred political culture.  Biologists warn that genetic mutations increase with inbreeding.  The same is true for politics and politicians.  Connecticut has had the same people in the legislature for over 40 years.  This inbred political culture is making a growing number of decisions which hurt the state  and people in Connecticut.  Because of them, the state is becoming smaller, weaker and less relevant to the rest of the nation.

Are Connecticut Democrats in an End State?

Democrats are still very much in control of Connecticut.  The unions dictate reality to the Democrats.  There is no legislative proposal that reflects anything other than self-destructive progressivism.  It is one sided.  It is so one sided that questions need to be asked about the connections between the declining condition of Connecticut and the impact of these legislative measures.

So, what we have is a sick political party, and getting sicker, which still writes the laws and collects our money.  There is a decline in function but not in political power.  At some point something has to break.

Connecticut Republicans Must Rise up or Die

That is the message folks.  So long as the Connecticut Republicans fail to rise up and act like a real political party, the party will die, the state will die.  Connecticut will become like the scene from The Lion King where the evil lion, Scar, took over the prideland and reduced it to a desolate and destitute land run by the hyenas (read unions).  But there is no indication that the Republicans will save Connecticut from them.

In a sense, the partial federal government shutdown is a metaphor for where Connecticut is headed this year.  There will be any number of unintended consequences.  The Democrats wanted to shut down ICE.  That is the one place they failed.   The Hartford Democrats are being criticized for producing what is called unworkable legislation.  Another term can be failed legislation and it is the natural product of an inbred political culture composed of extreme leftist ideologues devoid of common sense.

Somewhere in the Republican party there must emerge a group which understands what is at stake.  They must magically transform into an effective political organization that restores Republicans to their rightful place.  It starts here and it starts now.
